Director Thelma Manuel of the National Economic Development Authority discusses the Chapter 6 (Pursuing Swift and Fair Administration of Justice) of the Philippine Development Plan
The public forum, entitled “Katarungan, Kapayapaan at Katiwasayan, Tungo sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay: Justice, Peace and Security as Essential Pillars of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) and the Philippine Open Government Partnership National Action Plan (PH OGP NAP)” was held last March 28, 2017 at the Microtel Technohub, along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.
To begin the forum, Assistant Secretary Carlos Abad-Santos gave the overview framework of the PDP 2017-2022. Chapter 6 (Pursuing Swift and Fair Administration of Justice) was discussed by Director Thelma Manuel of the NEDA (National Economic Development Authority). The presentation was followed by a Reaction from Director Ryan Tomas of the DOJ (Department of Justice), then by an Open Forum.
Just before lunch, Ms. Marianne Fabian of the DBM (Department of Budget and Management) gave an overview of the PH OGP NAP.
In the afternoon, Ms. Ana Francesca Rosales of the NEDA presented Chapters 17 (Attaining Just and Lasting Peace) and Chapter 18 (Ensuring Security, Public Order and Safety). This was followed by a reaction from Mr. Paul Paraguya, the NAPC (National Anti-Poverty Commission) NGO Sectoral Council Representative, and an Open Forum.
The last activity was a Workshop to identify priority OGP NAP Commitments for the three inter-related chapters/issues.
The activity was convened by the ALG, Philippine OGP (Open Government Partnership), ANSA-EAP (Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific), InciteGov (International Center for Innovation, Transformation and Exellence in Governance), ULAP (Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines), Making All Voices Count, and Hustisya Natin.
