The Project Steering Committee members of the “Community-based Dialogue Sessions on Human Rights Promotion and Protection” project had a meeting with the Regional Directors and Key Officers of the Commission on Human Rights on August 5, 2016 at the Abagatan ti Manila, Alfonso, Cavite.
Commissioner Karen Gomez-Dumpit and Atty. Gemma Parojinog gave the context and objectives of the meeting, while Ms. Maryann Co (HSF) presented the program priorities of the Hanns Seidel Foundation. Atty. Marlon Manuel (ALG) gave an overview of the project and presented the results of the Impact Assessment of the project (conducted by Atty. Magistrado Mendoza, Jr).
The afternoon discussions focused on how to further institutionalize the CHR en banc Resolution on the Community-Based Dialogues (CBDs) in the context of the project. Some experiences were shared, including their successes and challenges. Towards the end, some priority themes for upcoming CBDs were identified.
The project is jointly implemented by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (through the AFP Human Rights Office), the Philippine National Police (through the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office), the Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA), the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF), and is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
