The Environmental Defense (EnDefense) Program held the “Forum on the Environmental Policy Agenda for the Duterte Administration and the 17th Congress” on July 29, 2016 at the Microtel Technohub, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.
The Policy Forum, held a few days after President Rodrigo Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA), was an opportunity to discuss the policy agenda for environmental protection under the Duterte administration and the 17th Congress.
Session 1 focused on priority bills the ALG and EnDfense partners lobbied for during the 16th Congress. Session 2 was a panel discussion of emerging environmental issues, while Session 3 focused on the issues encountered by environmental defenders. Newly-appointed Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary, Regina “Gina” Lopez, gave the Keynote Address, while the Closing Remarks were given by Atty. Jose Andres Canivel of the PTFCF.
The EnDefense is a collaborative program of the Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE) and the Philippine Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation (PTFCF), with the Alternative Law Groups (ALG) as Program Administrator.
