The Visayas Training of Trainers (TOT) and Institutionalization Workshop was conducted on July 11-15, 2016 at the Days Hotel in Iloilo City. The workshop is an activity under the “Community-based Dialogue Sessions on Human Rights Promotion and Protection” project, which is jointly implemented by the ALG, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (through the AFP Human Rights Office), the Philippine National Police (through the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office), the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF), the Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA), with support from of the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany (HSF).
The TOT aims to develop pools of local multi-sectoral trainers on Human Rights. The target participants are people involved in facilitating trainings – and for the security sector, these are personnel from the Training Service (TS), Civil-Military Operations (CMO), Directorate for Human Resources and Doctrine Development (DHRDD), and the Regional Special Training Unit (RSTU).
After the first 3 days of inputs, the participants took turns at becoming the trainers by Demo Teaching several of the input sessions on Day 4. On Day 5, the participants came up with regional plans (Regions 6, 7 and 8) to further institutionalize the CHR en banc Resolution on the Community-Based Dialogues (CBDs).
