LGBTQIA+ people share the same aspirations – to survive, thrive, love, and live despite the exclusion, injustice, and cruelty of this world.
Discrimination, abuse, harmful stereotypes, and harassment are part of the daily lives of persons with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC). And yet, they persevere. They are strong and bold, but that does not justify the injustices they experience.
When LGBTQIA+ people celebrate Pride, they also bring the fight of every sector in their calls. They promote SOGIESC rights, human rights, gender equality, workers’ rights, children’s rights, land rights, and more. Pride is a celebration of inclusivity as well as a protest to end the exclusion and discrimination persons with diverse SOGIESC face everyday.
For more than twenty-five years, LGBTQIA+ people have been fighting for their right to be seen, heard, and protected by the law through the Anti-Discrimination Bill or the SOGIE Equality Bill. This bill represents over two decades of relentless advocacy for a policy that protects everyone from discrimination based on their SOGIESC.
The Alternative Law Groups stands with love and pride with the LGBTQIA+ people, advocating for the swift passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill. This bill aims to protect individuals from discrimination and violence, affirm their human rights, and allow them to love who they want to love. It is a vital step toward access to justice and true equality for all!
